Shoot widescreen like in the cinema—for spherical and anamorphic lenses
With the SIRUI 1.25x anamorphic adapter, you can widen your lenses' footage without losing vertical resolution through cropping and achieve the characteristic properties of a true anamorphic cinema lens with spherical lenses, such as background lighting effects, lens flares, and oval bokeh.
Spherical lens When using a spherical lens (not an aspherical lens), the SIRUI 1.25x adapter produces approximately 16:9 from a 4:3 ratio and approximately 20:9 from 16:9.
Anamorphic lens When using an anamorphic lens, the lens's squeeze factor is multiplied by the SIRUI adapter's 1.25x squeeze factor. This means 1.6x becomes 2.0x and 1.33x becomes 1.66x.
The adapter can be used with lenses featuring 67, 72, 77, 82, or 92 mm filter threads. It has an 82 mm external thread for direct attachment to lenses with an 82 mm filter thread. The package includes three Step-Down Rings, 82 -> 67 mm / 82 -> 72 mm / 82 -> 77 mm, and one Step-Up Ring, 82 -> 92 mm.
The adapter itself has an 82 mm filter thread at the front.
The SIRUI adapter features manual focus. Any autofocus on your lens must be disabled and set to infinity. Focus is then adjusted manually using the adapter. The adapter is equipped with a gear ring for follow-focus systems.
Note: With anamorphic lenses or adapters, the image is compressed horizontally (squeeze). To view it correctly, a camera with a de-squeeze function or a monitor with a de-squeeze function is required.
